The academic activities of Ibn Sina Medical College commenced through the admission of 50 students in the 2004-05 academic session. Through the years up to 2021, 17 batches of total 986 students have undertaken the course. The college is affiliated with the University of Dhaka and recognized by Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council, the competent Authority of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The students of 12th batch are about to complete their internship in our own hospital. The admission procedure of session 2021-2022 is now ongoing. The admission is based on merit keeping in conformity with government order published and adopted by the Academic Council and adorned by the Governing Body of ISMC.
The college offers a five-year course of study, approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Dhaka University. After passing the final professional examination, there is a compulsory one year internship. The internship is a prerequisite for obtaining registration from the BMDC to practice medicine. In October 2014, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare capped admission and tuition fees at private medical colleges at 1,990,000 Bangladeshi taka (US$25,750 as of 2014) total for their five-year courses.

The college has an airconditioned 8900 sft library in the entire 6th floor of the academic building. It has 4826 volumes of Reference books, Text books, Periodicals, Printed and Electronic versions of National and International Journals. Every year they purchase an updated new edition of medical text & reference books. There is separate reading arrangement for male & female students as well as teachers. It is also equipped with Internet access. They have an Index Journal “Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science ” which is indexed in several organizations like Scopus Elsevier, Thomson Reuters, British Library, Hinari/WHO, Index Copernicus, Cross Ref. etc.
