Medical College for Women & Hospital is a project of the Medical and Health Welfare Trust,  established in 1992. The project began with four visionaries – Prof. A.Q.M. Badruddoza  Choudhury, Former President, and People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Prof. M.R. Khan, National  Chairman, Prof. A. M. Mujibul Haq, Founder Principal, MCWH, and Prof. Suraiya Jabeen,  Founder, Treasurer, who dreamed of a medical college exclusively for women. 

The aim of the institute is to teach selected female candidates for five academic years according  to the syllabus of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) for MBBS degree to be  conferred by Dhaka University and then impart training of closely supervised internship for one  year to create high quality career doctors for the nation. 

Hospital: 

Medical College for Women and Hospital is a project of the Medical & Health Welfare Trust which  has an area of 1,20,000 Sq. ft. (approximately). This whole project is a non-profitable, voluntary,  social work & self-income generating. 

With the tagline ‘Committed to Empathy’ the hospital started its journey from 1992. 

The Hospital is a 500 bedded well-resourced hospital and providing both general and specialized  services including Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Neonatal Intensive Care  Unit (NICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), Neuro-surgical Unit, and Dialysis unit.The Hospital  delivers the laboratory facilities and the immunization facilities to the society. It caters the demand  in the Health Services of the people and is providing world-class treatment.

Eligibility Criteria for Medical College for Women and Hospital, Bangladesh

  • Students who have passed SSC in 2017 or 2016 and HSC in 2019 or 2018 with GPA 9.00.  GP 3.50 in Biology at HSC Level is compulsory for all students.
  • Students having O & A level qualifications and foreign students having similar or  equivalent qualifications should apply with a certificate of equivalence issued from the  Director General, Health Directorate, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
  • Foreign students will have to arrange attestation of their SSC (SSE) & HSC (SSCE)  equivalence certificate & mark sheets from their foreign ministry and submit their papers  through Bangladesh Embassy in concerned countries.

In case of national/foreign students’ admission will be invalid if any document is found to  be false or wrong, before or after admission. No extra foreign/national students will be  admitted in excess of the number already specified by the govt. of Bangladesh.

Meritorious quota: 1. 5 seats are reserved for poor and meritorious students of Bangladesh. 

  1. Such students will not pay any security money like normal students and hence not get  remuneration as internee doctors.
  2. After completion of 5 years, if the student/students fail to pass the Final Professional MBBS  examination, then she will bear the extra tuition fee.
