Shiraz University of Medical Science (SUMS) is one of Iran’s most prestigious medical universities. The university was founded in 1946 as “Behdari Higher Health Education Center”. Later in 1949 the name was changed to Shiraz University of Medical Science.The SUMS has been approved by the Iranian Ministry of Health. Several other schools were also established in Shiraz under SUMS.
Shiraz University of Medical science currently has 63 research centers, 17 schools, 43 hospitals, 6 incubators, 3 community health centers, 20 primary health centers, 24 private hospitals (in Fars province). The university has 900 faculty members and 35,000 working staff with a huge number of students who are pursuing higher studies from the university.
