Ain Shams university was the third largest university in Egypt when it started its journey in the year 1950, July. Firstly, it was named “IBRAHIM PASHA UNIVERSITY”. At the primary years of its journey, it was collaborated with Cairo University and Alexandria university. But in the year 1954, this university changed its name twice. Second time it was named “Heliopolis University” and in the same year finally it was named “Ains Shams University”.
Ains Shams University is located Abbassia square in Ain Shams District. The faculty of medicine and the other departments and hospitals are situated in the centre of Abbassia district of Cairo Governate.
The faculty of medicine serves more than 6000 undergraduate students over the 6 years of graduate teaching and more than 1500 post graduate students in Diplomas, Master of Science and Medical Doctorate.
In this university campus there is Faculty of Dentistry, faculty of nursing, Institute of Psychiatry to serve the patients as well as train the students practically. This university has a glorious history of teaching of more than 72 years now and still counting. Focusing on the demand of higher education in youth Ain Shams university tries to make its infrastructure more student friendly and modern to continue its legacy.
This university has won more than 82 local and international awards in educating students. Ain Shams University has 5700 medical stuffs including professors. Every year more than 7000 students take admission and 1000 student complete their MBBS degree from this university.

Educational hospital of Faculty of medicine where internal medicine and surgery is included there is a well structured out patient clinic and on patient department. Eligibility Criteria for admission in Ain Shams Medical College, Egypt:
The students must be at least 17 years of age and not more than 25 years to apply for MBBS course.
The students have to secure minimum 75% and above marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) subjects along with English.
Qualifying NEET entrance examination for MBBS admission is compulsory.
The NEET score card should not be older than 3 years.
There should be no gap in 10th and 12th standard.
There should not be any criminal record of the students.
